Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side.........

Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment, full effort is full victory.   Mahatma Gandhi
Although we can appreciate a gift, a large tree, or a beautiful painting, it's so much more meaningful and fulfilling when we actually create something rather than simply acquire it.  A collector of rare coins may feel excitement for the glittery discs that nest in his collection, but that feeling is magnified and much more satisfying if he had anything to do with the journey of harvesting those coins.  The sweat, the digging and searching, the blistered thumbs from overuse of tools, that elated feeling of his pick hitting metal instead of sand after hours of trying!  Satisfaction is derived from a journey experienced,  not a destination in particular.  It's a revel in accomplishment, not simply attainment.  Many a CEO of a major corporation has earned their right of passage through dedication and persistence.  Many famous rock bands of today started in a garage somewhere.  Some of the sports heros we admire today didn't make the first cut for varsity and were then forced to play junior varsity.  The lessons learned along the way are priceless.  The memories are  irreplaceable!  The character built is enduring.  I heard a song that embodies this notion so beautifully.
"But these are the moments that
I'm going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
And I,
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on,

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb"
